Exposure
A condition, asset or configuration that leaves an organization susceptible to a cyber threat. These can occur in cloud accounts, line-of-business applications, corporate applications or elsewhere in an information architecture.
Why it matters
Exposures increase the risk of companies experiencing a cyber attack. Ensuring that exposures are identified and resolved quickly is part of reducing overall cyber risk.
How it works
Organizations typically discover exposures using a scanning solution that identifies when they exist in their systems. Exposures can have an associated CVSS, but just as commonly do not have one because they are a misconfiguration and not an outright vulnerability.
